About the Zoning Hearing Board
The Zoning Hearing Board is a three-member appointed board with the authority to hear and decide appeals from zoning officer determinations, applications for variances, and requests for special exceptions as provided by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC). The Board conducts quasi-judicial hearings and issues written decisions based on testimony, evidence, and applicable law. Board members serve three-year terms.

The Zoning Hearing Board consists of three (3) members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, who as a quasi-judicial body renders decisions regarding fair and equitable application and administration of the zoning ordinance. Its decision is a final adjudication separate from the Board of Supervisors.

The Property Maintenance Code Appeals Board consists of three (3) members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors. This Board conducts appeal hearings filed by residents who disagree with a decision of the Zoning Officer related to the Property Maintenance Code. Property Maintenance Code violation notices are initiated by the Zoning Officer and residents who desire to appeal his/her decisions can do so through the Property Maintenance Code Appeals Board.
